My perspective - when I see other pregnant woman complaining about the pain and hip issues - I feel like I am prepared better than most because I have already lived with SIJ problems that have made me unable to walk and consider a wheelchair.

I mean - it hurts, but I am used to soooo much more pain on a chronic basis, that I am able to take this with stride. What I will say is that it isn't as bad as anticipated. But I would miss snuggling with my husband too much and my bed is softer.Īs I type this all out, I realize I'm not even that far along and it's only going to get worse. I'm starting to get tempted to sleep out on the futon, since the back can recline and I can put my feet up on the coffee table. If I'm sleeping sort of on my back/hips at an angle, do you think that is good enough? Or should I avoid it since being even at a 30 degree angle is bad? Straight up sleeping on my sides is becoming a problem and while I have a physical therapist, since I got pregnant she's basically just sent me home with exercises (that don't help) and won't do anything else. Leaning forward is getting more difficult as my bump gets bigger and doesn't always help the pain. Leaning back seems to help (leaning against the rolled-up blanket) but I'm starting to worry that I'm technically laying on my back. I shift from side to side, but it starts to hurt very quickly to the point where I can't fall back asleep. My mattress is soft (damn near a pillow top), it's just the pressure.

Lately my hips have been in agony at night. I also already had bad hips before getting pregnant due to complications related to hypermobility/Ehlers Danlos syndrome. I've been sleeping on my side for weeks, I keep a pillow between my knees and I keep a rolled-up blanket behind my back. I'm 23weeks 3 days, and sleep has become a bigger issue in the last week than ever before.
